Last Oktoberfest we raised plenty of good cheer to Ullr.
The music was tasty, the potluck was sublime, the sausages were hearty, and the beers were a varied mix from the cellars of former brewmaster in residence Tony Mondia and Dawn 2 Dusk.
All in all we managed to raise just over $1200. If any of you have a driveway that's over 5 kms long, the Hankin team salutes your tenacity to keep it clear in the wintertime. It's a lot of work!
Every dollar raised from Oktoberfest for the last 2 years (over $3000) has went to helping Hankin mountain recreation area remain accessible year round.
Oktoberfest is a great way to reconnect with your winter time buddies and recollect over who actually was and is the raddest. That and catch up, or whatever. There's also a safe bet you will meet some new sisters and brothers to do the backcountry thing with. Some caution is advised when taking the advice of "the best damn skier on this mountain!"
Good news: the Lederhosers and DJ K Doompapa are back, and we've got a whole mountain to ourselves for the evening!
The BV Nordic Club has been kind enough to allow us to use their clubhouse for the night of October 4th. If you've never been, it is well worth the trip up the mountain to check out the subalpine stars.
Things to bring:
- family and friends
- a stein to compete for the raddest stein award
- a side dish for the potluck
We have multiple bbqs so don't be shy about bringing something to grill.
Dirndl and lederhosen clad people are fully accepted and encouraged.
Any thing you would wear on schnee day is fair game as well.
If you can, please try to carpool, there will be a free shuttle service available to get down from the mountain. Loose ball bike ride down the mountain not recommended.
Hope to hoist a mug with you!
